30th Anniversary Pikachu for August 18, 2026. Pikachu anniversary demand, sealed timing, PSA context, and collector watchpoints.

The last Slabox brief ran June 2. The calendar did not pause. This one is a window check, not a price dump. Numbers below are only ones we could source. If a print or street price is still unofficial, it stays marked that way.
What matters today
First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 hit shelves August 7. On August 28, six Mega tins land on the same weekend as Worlds in San Francisco. 30th Celebration is still September 16, worldwide.
Three clocks, one week of attention. Chase the leftover retail if you can see it. Do not treat a preorder queue screenshot as inventory.
Signal 1: Series 3 is out, the starter line is finished
Series 3 closes the First Partner run. Hoenn, Kalos, Paldea. Cards MEP 055–063, all illustrated by Saboteri. MSRP $14.99.
Each box is the same recipe as the first two waves: one special pack with 3 of 9 illustration-rare-style promos, two regular boosters, one sticker sheet. You need all three boxes for the nine-card set. That has been true since Series 1, so the real market is singles, not the box.
If a box is still near $15, it is an open. If it is listed near $60, that is a "last wave" story, not scarcity. Amazon already showed that kind of ask. Treat it as mood, not a print.
Signal 2: six tins on Worlds weekend
August 28, two tin lines:
• Mega Forces Tin: Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex
• Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes Tin: Mega Meganium ex, Mega Emboar ex, Mega Feraligatr ex
Each tin has the featured Mega ex and four packs. Ascended Heroes tins are locked to that special expansion. Mega Forces tins are listed as "four Pokémon TCG booster packs" with no set named. Some shops are quoting Ascended Heroes at $21.99. That is a retail tag, not a sold comp.
Dropping six cheap tins on Worlds weekend (Aug 28–30, Moscone Center) is a shelf play. Darkrai is the messy one. Pitch Black Mega Darkrai ex SIR #116 raw has been trading about $250–280 over the last two weeks. PSA 9 sales sit anywhere from $395 to $560. PSA 10 asks run from the low $1,400s to just under $2,000. The tape is wide.
A new Darkrai promo in a $20-ish tin is more likely to sit on the raw SIR than to lift it. Same rule for Dragonite and Zeraora: wait for print quality and actual supply before calling either a chase.
Signal 3: four weeks to 30th, preorders are noisier than product
September 16 is still the global date. TPCi nailed the first product wave on June 30:
• Elite Trainer Box: 9 packs + Nidorina illustration-rare-style promo
• Poster Collection: 3 packs + Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres
• Tech Sticker Collection: 3 packs + Alolan Exeggutor or Lucario
• Pokémon ex Box: 4 packs + Sylveon ex or Greninja ex
• Knock Out Collection: 2 packs + Eevee + coin
TCG Live opens the set September 15 at 10 a.m. PDT.
Pokémon Center started 30th preorders in July, mostly two per customer, behind a queue. GameStop is taking the Ultra-Premium Collection in store only. Target and the other big-box windows stagger and do not announce. "In stock" this month often means one retailer, one minute.
The 30 Pikachu cards, one per pack, still do the same thing we wrote in June: packs feel generous, common Pikachu raw gets thick fast. Watch the actual chase, the Futuristic Rare cards (YOSHIROTTEN's Mewtwo / Mew), and the Classic Collection reprints. Those reprints carry a 30th stamp. They are not the originals.
PSA notes
Series 3 pop is noise right now. Early slabs just pad the denominator. Tin promos can wait for the print and the checklist. 30th certs will not have volume until after mid-September.
Keep language versions separate. English and Japanese move together on the 16th. Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Indonesian still follow local distributors. Same art is not the same SKU.
