Centering measures how evenly a card's borders sit around the image. PSA centering standards for Pokemon TCG cards require approximately 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the back to qualify for PSA 10. The older hobby rule of thumb was 60/40, but PSA's published grading standards and actual slab outcomes show that front centering closer to 55/45 is typical for Gem Mint grades. 55/45 means one side's border is 55% of the combined left+right (or top+bottom) measurement, and the opposite side is 45%. Some graders may allow slight leniency if other card attributes (corners, surface, edges) are pristine, but centering is a primary PSA 10 gatekeeper for PTCG cards.
